Transposing data means flipping the grid so rows become columns and columns become rows. When you paste with transpose, what was arranged horizontally becomes vertical and what was vertical becomes horizontal, effectively reorienting the data layout. This is useful when you need a different layout for analysis, charting, or compatibility with another tool that expects data in the opposite orientation. The other terms don’t describe this exact change: a mirror reverses order along an axis without swapping the grid’s axes; a swap simply exchanges two values or fields; a rotate changes orientation by turning the entire block, which isn’t the same as a straight row-column flip.
